 PLACKATTU FAMILY HISTORY

 

 

Kochiti Kurivila, the son of Judge Kuruvila Kochitti Kuruvila belonging to the ancient and renowned Poothicote family in Mepral had been married to Achamma , the daughter of Kalathur Eappen Mathan in Manimala.  The Judge Kochitti Kuruvila died in the Malayalam year 1026 while officiating in the Quilon Sessions Court from 1007 till the end.

 Kochitti Kuruvila-Achamma couple had four sons and a daughter.  The eldest son Kuruvila known as Kunju settled in Manimala under the family name Plackattu.  He was married to a member of Vattassery family in Mallappally.  He had a son called Chackochan and four daughters in this marriage.  Eldest daughter was sent in marriage to Puthen veedu in Kurumbanadam, the second daughter Chachi Amma was sent in marriage to Veettuvelikunnel family in Pounkunnam,third one namely Annamma to Pulickal family in Ponkunnam and the fourth one called Mariamma toThekkekkara family in Changanassery.

 

After the death of the wife, Kunju (Kuruvila) remarried Eliamma of Thekkekkara family in Changanassery.  He had in this marriage two sons named Ommachen and Kunjambai and three daughters.  The eldest daughter was sent in marriage to Manjadi family in Chirakkadavu;  the second daughter Kathrinamma to Vattavayal in Edamattam; and the third daughter Saramma to Karippal family in Elangulam.

 

Chackochan valiappan settled  in Manimala Puthanpurakkal.  His wife died with the birth of his first daughter Kunjandamma. Kunjandamma was sent in marriage to Kochukattil family in Karthikapalli.  Later Chackochan valiappan remarried Saramma of Valyathu family in Karthikappally.  In this marriage he had two sons called Kuruvila (Valiakunju) and Thomas (Kochukunju) and two daughters called Saramma and Mariamma.  Saramma was sent in marriage to Padavupurakkal family in Nedumudi and Mariamma  was married to N.J. Cherian who was a majistrate and belonging to Nalpathamkalathil family in Velianadu.

 

Valiakunju's first marriage was to Thresiamma of Vatakkeparambil family in Kanjirappally.  He has in this marriage two sons namely Jacob Kuruvila (Valiachackochan), Dominic Kuruvila (Pappachan) and three daughters namely Thankamma, Mariamma, and Kunjamma.

 

Eldest daughter Thankamma was married to a member of Ettukettil family in Pulinkunnu.  After the death of her husband,she was remarried to a member of Menamparambil family in Pala.  Kunjamma was sent in marriage to Kondodikkal family in Thottakkadu and Mariamma to Nedumpara family in Thodupuzha.

Valiakunju married again Kunjannamma of Kanianthara family in Mepral.  He had three sons namely Mathew Kuruvila (Rajankutti), Philip Kuruvila (Babychen) and Thomas Kuruvila (Thommachan) and six daughters namely Gracykutty (Pulinkunnu Mangalappalli), Ponnamma (Pallipurathu Kadavil), Selinamma (Pala, Thottunkal), Leelamma (Paika Nandikattu Kandathil) Echamma (Pulinkunnu Pazheya parambil), Lalithamma (Kainakari Kalappurakkal).

 

The eldest son Valiachackochan of Valiakunju married Kunjannamma of Kadamappuzha family in Kanjirappally.  They have three sons namely Kuruvachan, Lalappan and Soni and  five daughters namely- Thresimma (Kochukakkanadu - Pala), Mariamma (Vellukunnel - Chemmalamattam), Alphonse (Marettu-            ), Sherli (Maathichiparambil Changanassery), and Mercy (Poovakkattu - Kuruvilangadu). Valiachackochan died on 18th March 2009.

(Kunjannamma Elayamma has passed away on Saturday, 25th November 2012, funeral was held at Manimala Holy Magies' Church on Wednesday, 29th November 2012.)

 
The second son Pappachen settled in a place called Kannimal in Casargode district. (Further details could not be available)

 

Rajankutti married Pennamma of Thuruthi Chirakkadavu family. Rajankutti has died a few years before.  They have two sons namely Kuriachan and Poulochan and a daughter namely Aniamma (Mappilasseril in Champakkulam).

 

Babychen married Salimma of Mukkada  family in Thengana.  They have two sons namely Jubi, and Jerry and a daughter called Juni.

 

Thommachan married Geetha of Kallivayalil family in Chemmalamattam.  They have a daughter namely Anu and a son called Kuruvila.

Kochukunju, the second son of Plackattu Puthenpurakkal Chackochan valiappan, married Rosamma of Manimala Keekarikkattu family.  His son was Jacob Thomas (Kochu Chackochan) and two daughters were Saramma (Chittadi Kurisummoottil) and Achamma (Muttuchira - Murikkan).  Kochuchackochan married Kunjamma of Mappilasseril family in Champakkulam.  They have seven sons namely Thomaskutty (died in June 2007), Georgekutty, Kunjumon, Joji, Antochan, Mathukutti, and Shaji and four daughters namely Rosamma (Nedumattam - Kuruvilangadu), Mercy (Palakunnel - Mammood), Betti (Puthumana - Konni),  and Lissy (Chirakkadavu- Thuruthi). Antochan died at 1 a.m. on Friday, 26th July 2013 - May his soul Rest In Peace). Antochan is married to Claramma of Kayyalakkakom Family in Pala. Their children are Jacob and Lini. 

Georgekutty passed away in the morning of 27th April 2015. He has been settled in Bangalaru. He is bereaved by wife Ann and Kevin and Terry,children. Funeral on 28th April at St. Judes' church, Konni at 2.30 pm.

Judy w/o Mathukutty passed away on 27th March 2018. Funeral scheduled to be held on Thursday, 29th March 2018 at Lourdes' Church at Kottayam. Their residence is at Vadavathoor. They have one daughter Tessa and sons Jacob and Nikhil.

 

Plackattu  Ommachen Valyappan settled in Uravakavunkal- Karikkattoor.  He was married to Sosamma of Kavalakkal family in Poovathur.  This couple had eight  sons and five daughters.

 

The sons were Kutti, Mathaichan, Eappachen, Pappachen, Avirachan, Anthonichen, Chackochan, Ouseppachen; and the daughters were Eliamma, Saramma, Elikkuttiamma, Mariamma, and Kathrikutty.  Eliamma, Mariamma and Ouseppachen had no children. Eliamma was married to a member of Njavallil Sooranatt famil in Pala and died without children.

 

Ouseppachen who married Thresiamma of Parambil family in Kanjirapally had no children.

Elikuttiamma and family were entrusted with the property in Uravakkavunkal ancestral home for taking care of Valiappan and valiamma.

Kuruvila known as Kutti, the eldest son of Ommachen married Annamma of Njavallil Aandukunnel, Pala.  Both of them are no more.  This couple had 3 sons and 6 daughters.  Rosamma the eldest daughter was married to Chackochan of Punnathanm - Aruvithura, and the second daughter Annama was married to Varkichen of Karippal family, and the third daughter Marykutty was married to Eapachen of Pamplaniyil – Paika,  (https://pamplany.com/marykutty-joseph-87-pamplaniyil/)and the the fourth daughter Eliamma was married to Kuruvilechan of Punnakunnathuseril Medayil, and the fifth daughter Saramma was married to Chackochan of Thazhathuveettil- Kallurkadu and 6th daughter Kathrikutty was married to Appachan of Elanjikkal family in Alappuzha.  The eldest son of Kuruvila Thomas (Pappachen) was married to Annamma of Vettikkadu family in Chirakkadavu.  They have no children.  Ouseppachen, the second son married Mariakkutty of Chethimattam family in Thottakkadu.  They also have no children and both of them are no more.

 

Younger son Mathaichen married Eliamma of Valiplakkal - Karikkattuur.  They have 3 sons namely Kariachen, Tomy, Saji and two daughters namely Annamma and Lovely.(Mathaichan has passed away on Wednesday, 28th September 2017.  He was the oldest living member of the family.)

 

Ommachen's second son Mathaichen  was married to Kathrinamma of Vettikkappallil family in Chirakkadavu.  This couple has eight sons. Mathaichen died in 21^st October 1984 and Kathrinamma died in November 1996.  Their   sons Thommikunju, Vakkachan, Ouseppachen and Anthonichen and Mathachan have died.

 

Thommikunju  had married Eliamma of Pellelil family in Ranni.   He has a daughter namely Kunjamma (Kathrinamma) in this marriage.  Eliamma died with delivery.  Kunjamma was married to Babychen of Madhathilakkal family in Velianadu.

 

Thommikunju remarried Mariamma of Paitutharayil family in Puthukkary.  They have two sons namely Babychen and Ommachen.  Babychen married Rosilin of Valiamattom family in Punnathura-Ettumanur. Their children are Appu (Thomas), Aswathi (Marie) and Xavi (Xavier). Appu married Annalisa (daughter of Lorenzo Carbonari and Franca)  on March 25, 2023 in the city of Ravina, Italy.

 

Ommachen married Sudha of Puthanpurakkal family in Pulikkeezhu - Tiruvalla. Their children are Denni, Mayakha and Carmel. Denni is married to Neethu and they have two kids.

 

The second son of Mathaichen namely Vakkachen married Mariamma of Nagarur family in Cheruvalli.  They have a son namely Mathachan and daughter namely Aniamma.  Aniamma was married to Joichan of  Thenpallil family in Vayala.  Mathachen married Jessamma of Mannanal family in Karikkattoor.  Their children are Jithin, Jini and Chinnu.  Mariakkutty died on 08 August 2007. Jithin is married to Nisha of Palannukalayel House, Enathu. A baby boy was born to them on 5th March 2015.

 

Ouseppachen, the third son of Mathaichan died while having his college education. 

Late Anthonichen married Thresiamma of Pullomparambil family in Nedumkunnam.  They have a daughter Jasmin, who is married to Martin of Mannamplakkal family in Erumely; and two sons namely Jilson and Johnson.  Jilson is married to Raji of Kallivayalil family in Chemmalamattam.  Johnson is married to Asha of Vattamthottil family in Karikkattoor.

 

Fifth son of Mathaichan Chackochan married Philomina of Malayil family in Alappuzha.  They have two sons namely Jijo and Jobi. Jijo is married to Mili of Thayyil family of Champakkulam.(Mili's father Devasiachan passed away on 24th Oct 2023, funeral at St Mary's Baslica on 27th Oct at 1030am). They have a son called Appu(Jacob).  Jobi married to Anita of Vaniappurackal Chirayil family in Edathua. They have two sons. The elder son Naveen died when he was seven months. The younger son is Neron .

Sixth son Devasiachen married Molly of Madakkasseril family in Edathua.  They have 3 daughters.  The eldest daughter Neena is married to Sibichen of Kalathil family in Alappuzha.  Nisha, the second daughter was married to Binu of Padavupurackal family in Harippad in 2000. The third daugher is Nitha. She got married to Mathew of Palathara in Chethipuzha in 2005. Devasiachen died on 2nd September 2006 at Alapuzha at 6.45 am. His body was burried on 3rd Sept. at Holy Magi's church. He had been under treatment for one year.

Kuruvachen married Mariamma of Kuzhiamplavil family in Champakkara.  They have 3 daughters namely Swapna, Sumitha and Sunitha.  Swapna is married to Tom of Elangallore family in Manimala. Sumitha is married to  Sanjiv of Kalappurakkal family in Paika. Sunitha is married to  Viji of Chakkalakkal family in Athirampuzha.

 

 

The third son of Ommachen namely Eappachen married Thresiamma of Karippal family in Elangulam.  They have sons namely Thankachan, Kuttappan and five daughters.  The eldest daughter Rosamma died soon after she was married to Kokkappuzha family in Karimpanakkulam.  The second daughter Thankamma was married to Thommachen of Puthiaparambil family in Koottikkal.  The third daughter Elikkutty was married to Ouseppachen of Chandrankunnel family in Pravithanam.  Lissy was married to Chandappilla of Karippassery of Kavalam.   The next daughter Rosamma called Moni was married to Chackochan of Thottil family in Arpukkara.  After the death of  Thresiamma, Eappachen remarried Annakkutty of Pullolil family.  Eappachen, Annakutty and Kuttappan  and Moni have died).

 

The eldest son Thankachen of Eappachen married Annakkutty of Urumbilveedu of Chirakkadavu.  They have 7 daughters and a son. Annakkutty has died on February 5, 2011.

 

Eappachen's youngest son Kuttappan married Jolyamma of Manamayil family in Kurisinmoodu. Jollyamma passed away on 20th March 2022 (RIP).  They have a daugher Sheeba and two sons  Mathachan and Benny.  Sheba is married to Joychen, son of Thommachen of Mullongkal family in Elangoi.  Mathachen married Sajina  of Kalluvila family in Koodal.  Benny married Royissin of Enattumala family in Karikkattoor. 

 

Pappachen, the next son of Ommachen married Eathamma of Vettikkattu family in Chirakkadavu.  Eathamma has died a few years ago.  Pappachen and children are settled in Cherupuzha in Kannur district since many years.  Pappachen has 3 sons and 3 daughters.  Sons Kuttappan and Achenkunju are settled in Cherupuzha.  Kunjammachen, another son had died years ago.  His wife and five sons are settled in Cherupuzha itself.  Daughter Rosamma is married to Thomachan (decesased) of Theempalangattu Ponthenpuzha. Mercy is married to Ouseppachan Pazhayaparambil, Perambra. Alice is married to Mathew Vettickal, Kadumeni. (We sadly announce the demise of Kuttappan on January 25, 2017)

Biji Joseph the eldest son of Kunjammachan passed away on 4th January 2022.  His brothers are Saji, Reji, Giji and Joji.  Giji is in Doha, and Joji in Australia.

Avirachan was married to Chinnamma of Karinattu family in Chirakkadavu. They have seven sons and three daughters.

Eldest son Thankachan is married to Annakkutty of Kadakkunnel family in Erumely.  They have four daughters and a son.  (Thankachan died on 13th January 2012)

(We sadly announce the death of Annakkutty on Thursday, 30th August 2012.  Funeral was held on Friday, 31st August 2012 at St Joseph's  Church at Karikkattoor Centre.)

Eldest daughter Molly is married to Mathachan, Cherukarakunnel, Kozhuvanal.  Second daugahter Salomi is married to Kuttyachen Kanjirakkattu, Athikkayam, third daughter Ancey is married to Chackappan Koithara in Kainakary. Fourth daughter Ligy is married to Davasia (Pappachan) of Muthalakkalayil family in Anchal.(Devasia passed away on 30 Oct 2023. Funeral on Tuesday, 31st Oct 2023 at Philgiri, Vayala (Kollam) curch at 11 am). Son Joy married Salimma of … They have a son  Jino and Jithu the daughter.

Second son of Avirachan Ittirappy (Abraham) married Pennamma of Nalpathamkalathil in Karikkattoor.  They have a daughter and two sons.  Bina the daughter is married to Pappachi of Elanjimattathil famil in Poonjar. Sons are Kunjavarachen and Mathachan.

Third son of Avirachan Jose married Lillykutty of Ayalloor family in Ponkunnam.  They have two sons Sabu and Antochan  and two daughters namely Bindu and Binu.

Fourth son Appi (Antony) married Molly of Kanayinkal Family  in Chunkappara. They have two daughters Soly and Shilly. Soly is married to Joshi of Njalliyil family in Cheruvally.

Fifth son on of Eappachen (P.A. Eappen) married Lillikutty of Elavalunkal family in Venjaramood. They have two daughters Luxy and Litty.

 

Sixth son Babychen married Nirmala of Mailadoor family in Kanamala. They have a daughter Sini and son Aby.

Youngest son Jomy married Litty of Vadakkumcheryl in Angamaly. They have a daughter (Chinnu) and son (Munnu).

Avirachen’s daughters are Monimma married to Thommachen Poovelikunnel Erumely (Koratti), Deenamma married to…..  and Amminikutty married to…..of Avirachan

Mr. Anthonichen married Mrs. Marykutty from Palakkunnel family (Kuthrappalli) and they got total eleven children. 1) Mr. Tomy Plackattu. Settled in Kasargodu dist. (Malabar) and married Mrs. Claramma from Mappilakunnel family (Calicut). They got total four daughters 1) Mrs. Priya Bony. Married from Azhakathu family (Calicut) have one child, Kithu. 2) Mrs. Rani Jiji. Married from Kasargodu itself. 3) Ms. Asha / Fashion desigher - Going to get married on May 2009. 4) Ms. Anu - Working as dietitian in AKG Hospital Kannur.(Tomy has passed away on 23rd January 2017).  2) Mr. Babu Plackattu. Settled in Kannur and married Mrs. Rossamma from Kollirikkal family from Kannur itself. They got total 3 children. 1) Mrs. Simi Bobby. Married by Mr. Booby Alilakuzhi, co brother of Mr. John Brittas (M.D. of Kairali T.V) and working as senior Circulation in Malayala Manorama news paper Kannur division. 2) Mrs. Mili Vinay. Married by Mr. Vinay Karimalikkal (calicut) working as project Manager of Malabar Builders 3) Mr. Dipu Babu. . Working as H.R. Coordinator of KCA Deutag Drilling co. for their Oman operation. 3) Mr. Sunny Plackattu. Settled in Kannur and married Mrs. Any from Madassey house in Sreekandapuram. They got total 3 children 1) Mrs. Neethu Binto married to Mr. Binto (Software Engineer in America) 2) Mr. Nikhil. Single. Working as Web Designer in Banglore. 3) Mr. Nirmal. MBA, working in America. 4) Mr. Raju Plackattu married Mrs. Annamma from Ambiathu house Changanassery. They got total 3 children 1) Mr. Rajeev. They got total 2 children. 1) Mr. Anoop. Engineer. 2) Mr. Arun. Student. 9) Mrs. Babymma Joskutty. Married by Mr. Joskutty from Marattukalam family Changanassery. They got total two childrens. 1) Mr. Nirmal. Student 2) Mr. Anand. Student 10) Mrs. Elsamma Tomy. Married by Mr. Tomichan from Edayadiyil house (Mankompu). 11) Mr. Tony Plackattu. Married Mrs. Beena from Azhakathu family from Calicut and settled in Calicut. They got total 2 children. 1) Mr.Appu. Student. 2) Ms. Ammu. Student. Marykutty Elayamma passed away on 12th October 2022 at Kannur at the age of 99. Funeral on 14th Oct at Little Flower Church, Lissigiri, Sreekandapuram.

 Seventh son of Ommachen valiapan Chackochan married Mariamma of Neduvelil family in Karuvatta. (Mariamma Elayamma has died on Wednesday, 15th August 2012 at 6 p.m.  She had been admitted in Kanjirappally 26th mile hospital) They have three sons and eight daughters.  The eldest son Thommachan lives in Chennattady (Kasargode dist).(Thommachan has passed away on Wednesday, 18th July 2018)

Second son Mathachan married Mercy of Kottayil family in Alappra.

 Youngest son Jomon married Asha of Kattakkayam family in Kumarakam.

 

Eldest daughter Rosamma is married to Mathachan of Mavelikkalathil family in Vezhapra.

Second daughter Mariamma is married to Mathachen of Kodupadath family in Pulinkunnu. Fourth daughter Kathrikutty is married to Kuriachen of Kodupadath family.

Third daughter Eliamma is married to Babychen of Valiakalathil family in Padaharam.

Fifth daughter Echamma is married to Thankachan of Mannil family in Kadammanitta.

Sixth daughter Susamma is married to Achankunju (Pius) of Erankary family of Pulikkuttisery.

 

Seventh daughter Jessy is married to Alex of Vachaparamil family in Pulinkunnu.

Eighth daughter Kochurani is married to Luis of Moolayil family in Changanassery.

Ommachen’s eldest daughter Eliamma who was marred to a member of Njavallil Sooranattu family in Pala died without children.  Second daughter Saramma was married to Mathaichan Keekarikkattoor,Karikkattoor.  They have two sons namely Thommikunj (Thommichayan's wife Mariakutti Elayamma passed away on 11th April 2018)and Chackochan and daughters Achamma (married to member of Velloorkunnel family Thidanad) and Sosamma (married to Kunchamma, Mangalappallil, Pulinkunnu), Marykutty (married to A.A. Joseph Aalumparambil, Kottayam) and Lillikutty (married to member of Andreper family in Cherthala). 

Third daughter Elikuttiamma was married to P.T. Thomas, Parel, Ettumannur.  They have four sons and two daughters.  Eldest son Thomas P (Thomaskutty) married Lillikutty; Thomaskutty passed away on 17th October 2019.  Antochan married Annamma (Ponkunnam) Devasiachen married Accamma .  Daughters are Mol chechi and Elsamma..(details required)(Request Antochayan to help complete this part of the history- incase u happened to visit this site)

Fourth daughter Mariamma was married to Ouseppachan Koottarappallil, Bharananganam and they have no children.

Fifth daughter Kathrikutty is married to Thommachen of Elavanal family in Anicad.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vellammel Branch

Kuruvila Mathan (Kunjambai) settled in Vellammel. His wife Chachimma belolonged to Thaikkadavil family in Valanjavattam.  They have three sons and one daughter.

Eldest son Kuruvila (Kunj) settled in Sreekanddhapuram in Kannur District.  His wife Mariamma belonged to Valyara Parayil family in Thaikkattussery.   They have two sons namely Mathew Kurivila (Mathachen) and Hormis Kuruvila (Ommachen) and two daughters namely Sally and Rajamma.  Sally is married to Thommachen Kochukudiyil, Kalloorkad and Rajamma is married to Scariachen of Powathil family in Kurumbanadam.

First son Mathachen married Leelamma of Pottenkulam family in Nilambur and resides in Manimala. They have three sons namely Arun, Anoop and Ashwin. (Mathachen passed away on Sunday, 23rd October 2011 in Chennai. May his soul Rest In Peace)

Second son Ommachen married Leena of Vellookunnel family in Erattupetta and lives in Sreekanddhapuram.  They have two daughters namely and Annu and Anju and a son namely Ajith.

Second of Kunjambai namely P.M. Thomas (Babychen) married Rosy of Thevarkattu family in Alappuzha and lived in Ernakulam.  They have three sons and two daughters. Eldest son Dr. Thomas Mathew (Mathachen) married….
